I have been thinking about this site for several years but never had the time to pursue it. I was raised in the eastern townships of Quebec. My husband was raised in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia.

When I was very young, I remember my grandmother making the best meals in our area. She had a way of making everything good. She was praised by everyone that ate her cooking. My mom got that from her because she was one of the best cooks in our town. I guess it is in the genes as my two sisters are the same.

Mom used to make the best spaghetti sauce in the area then. My sisters and I always tried to make it better every time we made it.

At some point I found the El-Ma-Mia spices for spaghetti sauce so decided to try them. Well I will say that it was a good decision... my kids loved it.

After we moved to B.C. 5 years ago, I found that I couldn't buy El-Ma-Mia spices here. I looked everywhere to find them .. just couldn't find anything close to them.

As for other kind of cooking, I have always looked for the good taste of food and how we should spice it up. I had my way of cooking, my husband had his own way. In the 10 years we have been together we have been working on blending our way of cooking meat, fish, etc. It has come out with some of the best cooking we have tasted. With good equipment and spices you can go a long ways in preparing an economical and tasty meal.

Roast beef can be made better with a rub with spices and oil to cover a lean piece of meat, helping to keep the juices inside the roast when cooked at high heat in a short period of time.

The roast of pork pot roast style is also called roast of pork with yellow potatoes. This is what we call comfort food... when you're in a bad mood this will cheer you up for sure. But it has to be made right to bring out the best of your roast.
